A UK Civil Aviation Authority IR Part 147 Approved School
Air Service Training (Engineering) Ltd, (AST) has been delivering training to the worlds airlines, maintenance organisations and military formations for 70 years, and is approved to offer training and examinations to meet the requirements of the IR Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
There are two basic requirements to be met for licence issue; the Knowledge requirements and experience requirements, and the approved course meets the knowledge requirements by providing both theoretical and practical based training and assessment. A part of the approved course is the On the Job Training (OJT) placement, which must be conducted with an appropriate maintenance organisation, as a part of the approved course AST secures placements for its students.
The advantage of the approved course is that the student achieves a thorough understanding of the theoretical aspects of the chosen category, and achieves a high level of practical competence. Additionally, the minimum experience requirement is reduced for those graduating from an approved course.
The UK Civil Aviation authority offers exemptions for modules to those holding certain Academic Awards, click here to access this information on the UKCAA web site.
